Weapons Delivers Original Horror with Real Bite

Weapons Delivers Original Horror with Real Bite

Hollywood is playing it safe with tried and true IP’s. this year might go down as the year of the unoriginal. Of all the movies at the box office this summer it’s good to see an original story. Weapons is a decent departure from the overload of sequels, prequels, remakes, and reboots. That being said, you’re either gonna love it or hate it, it’s not for everyone. If you’re looking for the traditional scare then look elsewhere.

Weapons is an original horror mystery that actually trusts the audience to listen, look, and lean in. No recycled plot. No corporate paint by numbers. Director Zach Cregger swings for the fences and the result is a nervy, delirious and sometimes wickedly funny chiller.

Of all the big releases clogging the box office right now, it is a great to see an original story with real teeth. It is creative and unpredictable and it sticks the landing with a finale that feels both wild and earned. If you love horror and mystery, you should see it on a big screen. Even if you usually roll your eyes at hype, this one earns the noise. Call it four and a half stars out of five and a firm must watch for anyone who craves something new, unnerving, and just a little unholy.
