Obi-Wan Kenobi is the True Chosen One in Star Wars

Obi-Wan Kenobi is the True Chosen One in Star Wars

The prophecy of the Chosen One in Star Wars has never truly been established, whether it’s Anakin or, later, Luke Skywalker. However, a closer look of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life and actions suggests that he may be the true Chosen One.

From his exceptional combat achievements to his role in the Rebellion and his duty to the Jedi Order, we’re laying out the case that Obi-Wan might just be the real Chosen One!

In Revenge of the Sith, we witnessed the presumed chosen one become a great Jedi who ultimately turned to the dark side. Then, years later, Luke, his son, redeemed him, bringing him back to the light. Yet, throughout all of this, there was one constant present: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Let’s break down his story and see how his actions might have truly balanced the force.

Exceptional combat record

Obi-Wan Kenobi has a remarkable record of victories against some of the most formidable adversaries in the galaxy:

1. Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader: Obi-Wan defeated Anakin on Mustafar, preventing the newly christened Sith Lord from becoming an immediate threat to the galaxy.

2. General Grievous: Obi-Wan successfully hunted down and defeated the feared cyborg General of the Separatist army, significantly weakening the Separatist forces.

3. Darth Maul: Obi-Wan avenged his master, Qui-Gon Jinn, by defeating Maul twice, first on Naboo and later on Tatooine.

4. Count Dooku: Although Obi-Wan did not directly defeat Dooku, he held his own against the powerful Sith-lord on multiple occasions.

Contributions to the rebellion

Obi-Wan’s direct actions directly led to the formation and success of the Rebel Alliance:

1. Saving Leia: Obi-Wan’s rescue of Princess Leia ensured her role in the Rebellion. Leia’s leadership and efforts were instrumental in rallying support against the Empire.

2. Protecting and training Luke Skywalker: Obi-Wan watched over Luke from a distance on Tatooine, ensuring his safety. He also began Luke’s Jedi training, setting him on the path to becoming a powerful Jedi Knight capable of confronting the Sith.

Presence at important moments

Obi-Wan was present at important moments in the Star Wars saga:

1. Birth of Leia and Luke: He was there when Padmé Amidala gave birth to the twins, ensuring their separation and protection from the Empire.

2. Training Anakin and Luke: Obi-Wan trained Anakin Skywalker and later guided Luke Skywalker, influencing both in the galaxy’s fate. As a force ghost, he continued to provide guidance to Luke, helping him connect with the Force and destroy the Death Star.

The Jedi and the Force

Obi-Wan never lost faith in the Jedi Order, even in the face of overwhelming adversity. He symbolized the qualities of a true Jedi:

1. Sacrifice and Duty: Obi-Wan consistently put the needs of the galaxy and the Jedi Order above his own. His self-imposed exile on Tatooine was to ensure the future of the Jedi.

2. Guiding the Next Generation: Obi-Wan’s mentorship extended beyond his lifetime. As a Force ghost, he continued to provide guidance to Luke, helping to shape him into the Jedi who would ultimately redeem Anakin and defeat the Emperor.

Fulfillment of the prophecy

The prophecy of the Chosen One speaks of bringing balance to the Force. Obi-Wan’s actions played a role in this balance:

1. Defeating important Sith: By defeating Maul, Grievous, and Anakin/Vader at different points, Obi-Wan directly contributed to the weakening of the Sith.

2. Training the Redeemer: His training of Luke Skywalker set in motion the events that led to the redemption of Anakin Skywalker and the destruction of the Sith, fulfilling the prophecy in a way that might not have been possible without his influence.

While Anakin and Luke Skywalker are often viewed as the primary candidates for the Chosen One, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s extensive contributions and the role he played in shaping the galaxy’s fate is hard evidence that he might be the actual Chosen One.
