‘Teacup’—The Sweet Name Hiding a Sinister Threat in Peacock’s New Horror Series

‘Teacup’—The Sweet Name Hiding a Sinister Threat in Peacock’s New Horror Series

Get ready for Halloween this fall as “Teacup” lands on Peacock on October 10, 2024. Created by Ian McCulloch and inspired by Robert R. McCammon’s novel “Stinger,” this upcoming horror series brings together a talented cast and some of the top names in the horror genre.

Although the title “Teacup” might sound deceptively sweet, the show promises to be anything but.

Set on a remote ranch in rural Georgia, Teacup follows a group of people forced to confront a mysterious, otherworldly threat. Yvonne Strahovski stars as Maggie Chenoweth, leading a family that includes Scott Speedman as her husband, James, and Kathy Baker as Ellen Chenoweth. Chaske Spencer and Émilie Bierre are also part of the cast.

The show has a strong creative team behind it. Executive producer James Wan, best known for The Conjuring and Saw, lends his expertise to the project. Wan is joined by Ian McCulloch, who also serves as showrunner, and E.L. Katz, who directs. Both McCulloch and Katz are known for their previous work on successful TV dramas and horror series, so expectations are high.

While Teacup is based on McCammon’s 1988 novel Stinger, the show takes a few creative liberties, relocating the action from Texas to Georgia and stretching the timeline from 24 to 48 hours. Fans of the novel can still expect the same premise: an alien threat descending on a small, isolated community with devastating consequences.

The teaser may not give much away, but for sure—Teacup is set to deliver horror and sci-fi. If you’re a fan of character-driven horror stories with a dash of mystery, this is definitely a series to keep an eye on.
